From a family matter hidden behind walls to the topic of an Internet series, suicides among young people have been increasing slowly but steadily in Brazil: in twelve years, the suicide rate among the population of 15- 29 years old rose by almost 10%, up from 5.1 per 100,000 inhabitants in 2002 to 5.6 in 2014. This documentary explores this reality from the perspective of young people themselves, instead of only hearing the experts in this matter. The film sounds the alarm, through face-to-face conversations between young people, listening to those who have already tried to commit suicide, others who are considering it, and above all those who are not yet thinking about it: the target audience for this film. With a narrative that targets 15-24 years old viewers, Silent Alarm uses language that speaks directly to them, building a bridge for open and transparent communication on this topic .
