synopsis

A timeline of hunger in Brazil, Histories of Hunger in Brazil takes viewers from colonial times, when the seeds of social inequalities were planted, to the recent government policies that removed Brazil from the UN Hunger Map in 2014. This documentary shows how society and government addressed this problem, leading fourteen million Brazilians out of extreme poverty. But another threat looms: many of the policies implemented during previous administrations have been suppressed by the current government, and Brazil is once again threatened by the return of hunger.
